Year 8: Bullying

This lesson explores the impact of bullying and the personal responsibility we all carry to respect others.

Through open discussion and an exploration of prejudice and discrimination we hope to create a culture of self-reflection that leads to mutual respect and positive changes in behaviour.

  • An exploration of bullying and its different forms

  • Discussion and analysis on the topic from the perspective of both the bully and the victim using statistics and information on psychological research to identify the long-term effects of bullying on both parties

  • Student discussions on why someone may become a victim of bullying or become a bully

  • Statistics and information on psychological research of both bullies and their victims

  • Exploration of the challenges and risks of cyber-bullying and internet trolling

  • Signposting to appropriate agencies and an opportunity to access support and guidance (including CEOP Education, Childline, and Family Lives)

  • A Christian response to the topic inc. the teachings of Jesus on value and self-worth

  • Personal stories of being a victim of bullying that bring a sense of hope
